ANCHORS

There are 4 anchors included with the boat:

  • two 40 pound danforth anchors
  • a 22 pound danforth anchor
  • a new and not yet installed 30kg/66 lb claw anchor
  • a 5-pound anchor for the dinghy

The anchor chain is 3/8" grade 40 galvanized chain 250 foot long. It is connected to the windlass, stored below deck in the forepeak, and marked at 25 foot intervals as a guide when lowering and raising the anchor.

A Lewmar V3 windlass is installed on the foredeck.

Windlass
  • Controls for this windlass to raise and lower the anchor are in a small box on the bow pulpit.
  • Power is turned on/off from a small box on the bottom of the main cabin bulkhead wall so that the anchor does not need to be powered during travel.
  • When raising the anchor, a brush with a very long handle removes caked dirt on the anchor before securing it back on the boat.
  • Anchoring may be done by rope instead of chain on the windlass.
  • A custom anchor fitting with a roller is installed at the forward end of the deck under the bow pulpit.
